Clarksville, Ark. -- The University of the Ozarks Theatre Department will present its first production of the 2007-2008 academic year, 'Fiction,' at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 in the Walton Fine Arts Center.

The play is open to the public. General admission is $8 and for senior citizens is $6.

Written by Steven Dietz, Fiction is the story of two authors, Linda and Michael Waterman, who are successful writers and happily married to one another. They thrive on the give and take of their unusually honest and caring relationship. However, when they decide to share their diaries with one another, the boundaries between past and present, fact and fiction, trust and betrayal, begin to break down. As it turns out, no life is an open book.

The Associated Press called Fiction "a work of uncommon insight --- an adult, unsparing and yet often witty look at the intimate relationship between a man and a woman during a time of crisis."

The director is Theatre Professor Pat Farmer and the production design and technical director is Theatre professor Bruce B. Brown. Stage manager is Phillip Perez, graphic designer is Erin Fuller and the sound designer is Grace Anne Harnish. The cast includes Leah Short as Linda Waterman, Andrew Charles Heim as Michael Waterman and Annie Mitchell as Abby Drake. Understudies are Fuller, Josh Tarvin and Jenava Moreau.

The crew includes Lacey Kennedy as light board operator; Harnish as sound board operator; Catalina Ruiz, Christopher Cunningham and Kennedy as wardrobe crew; Fuller, Tarvin, Danielle Stover, Cunningham, Moreau, Kristina Davenport, Houston Hall, Rebecca Arnold, Jeff Haynes, Rachelle Prince, Colin Johnson and Martin Morales as stage crew.
