The University of the Ozarks Theatre will present the holiday comedy "A Tuna Christmas," Dec. 12-14 in the Black Box Theatre, located in the Walton Fine Arts Center.

The play begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, and Friday, Dec. 13, and at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. The house opens 30 minutes before the production begins and the box office is open one hour prior to the event. Tickets for the play are $8 each and can be purchased at the box office or online at www.ozarks.edu/theatre.

Written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, "A Tuna Christmas" is a family friendly play for ages 6 and over (no babies or toddlers admitted).

The play, which is the second in a trilogy of comedic plays, takes place around Christmas in Tuna, Texas, the third-smallest town in Texas.  Radio station OKKK news personalities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie report on various Yuletide activities, including the blistering competition in the annual holiday lawn decorating contest. In other news, the exceedingly eager Joe Bob Lipsey’s production of "A Christmas Carol" is jeopardized by unpaid electric bills.  Many colorful Tuna personalities join in the holiday fun that includes one spaceship,  21 characters, 300-plus costume changes, and 1,000 or more laughs.

The play is notable in that two men play the entire cast of eccentric characters of both genders and various ages. Students John Davis and Utah Robertson will perform the roles of more than 20 characters. The play will be directed by Walton Professor of Theatre Bruce B. Brown.

The company also includes Lucas Hoiland as technical director, Sandra Davis as assistant stage manager, Katelyn Nichols as light board operator, Darrick Conley and David Pluebell as lighting crew, Lauren Charters as sound board operator, Meghan Mansur and Heather Tankersley as dressers, Daniel Barnes as props crew, Gaby Pena as box office manager, Isabella Clark and Joey Chamber as door elves and Phoebe Randle and Brittany Oviedo as ushers. Other company members include Tori Rhein, Jonathan Warren, Houston Hall, Kady Holmes, Kincaid McMinn, Friedl Nugent, Tyler Lyngle and Annie Williams.
