Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks Theatre will present its first production of the 2011-2012 academic year, Ira Levin's comic murder thriller "Deathtrap," on Oct. 13, 14 and 15, in the Walton Fine Arts Center.

The production will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening in the Seay Theatre. General admission tickets are $8 and tickets for senior citizens are $6. Tickets can be purchased at the box office on the evening of the performance.

"Deathtrap" revolves around Sydney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers who is struggling to overcome a "dry" spell. When he receives a script from a college student in the seminar he has been conducting --- a thriller which Sydney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit --- Sydney devises a plan with his wife’s help to offer collaboration to the student. The young man quickly accepts, and suspense mounts as the plot twists and turns with devilish ingenuity.

"Deathtrap" took Broadway by storm in the 1980s and became a successful motion picture starring Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve.

U of O Theatre Professor Bruce B. Brown will serve as the director as well as scenic designer and technical director for the University production. Lindsey Humphries will be the stage manager, Justin Hughes will serve as lighting designer, Catalina Ruiz-Salazar will be the costume designer and wardrobe crew chief, Clayton Becker will be sound designer, and Alisha Nystrom will serve as graphic designer. Molly Patterson is the box office manager, and Jordan Martin is the house manager and assistant stage manager.

The cast will include Jordan Kulow as Sydney Bruhl, Jacqueline Jade Jurcik as Myra Bruhl, David Pluebell as Clifford Anderson, Ginny Sain as Helga Ten Drop, Ty Volz as Porter Milgrim, and Jordan Martin as the understudy.

Other crew members include, Martin Morales, Trey Scott, Katelyn Nichols and Tori Rhein.
