Clarksville, Ark. --- The University of the Ozarks Theatre will produce Edgar Lee Master's Spoon River Anthology as one of the highlights of the 2010-2011 academic year.

Spoon River Anthology, a famous collection of blank verse vignettes from the dead in Spoon River Cemetery, combines humor, irony and poignancy for an evening of family entertainment. The University Theatre will present the play at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 14, 15 and 16 in Seay Theatre on campus.

In April, the University Theatre will produce Rupert’s Birthday and Other Stories, which brings the South’s storytelling tradition to life as four characters recollect their experiences with a calf, frozen frog legs, elderberry jelly and a cemetery backhoe. Rupert’s Birthday and Other Stories will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on April 13, 14 and 15.

The University Theatre will also present a pair of student directed one acts during the year. On Dec. 8-10 and on Feb. 16-18, advanced directing students will present modern American short plays in a studio setting.

General admission is $8 for each of the performances. The University Theatre is under the direction of Walton Professor of Theatre Pat Farmer and Professor of Theatre Bruce B. Brown.
