Clarksville, Ark. -- Former teacher education professor Dr. Carol Yandell and her husband, Archie, have established the Yandell Family Scholarship to aid future classroom teachers at University of the Ozarks.

The scholarship will aid students with financial need as determined by the university’s Office of Financial Aid. Preference will be given to students from Johnson County who are enrolled in the university’s Pat Walker Teacher Education Program.

Dr. Yandell taught early childhood education at Ozarks for 22 years, retiring from full-time teaching in May of 2002. She earned degrees from Western Connecticut University and the University of Bridgeport before earning her Ed.D. from the University of Arkansas. Since her retirement, she has served as an adjunct professor at Ozarks and has volunteered in public schools.
