Performing Arts Scholarship

In addition to the application, a video submission and interview will be used to determine recipients of the performing arts scholarships. Before submitting your application and video, take a moment to read the instructions for your discipline to ensure best results.

The scholarship committee will watch and evaluate all videos during a two-week period after the submission deadline.

Submission deadlines & Decisions

Fall semester: MARCH 15 // APRIL 1
Spring semester: JANUARY 1 // JANUARY 15

Music

What should my video look like?
The video should show the performer from at least the sternum to just above the head. Full body shots are also acceptable and profile shots are acceptable for keyboard performances. For keyboard performances, be sure that the performer’s hands are clearly visible.

What should I perform?
The performance should include two solo songs. Songs can be selected from any style or time-period and should show the full range of your performing ability. You may perform original music or pieces by other composers.

Singers may be accompanied by piano, guitar, or another appropriate instrument. Recorded accompaniments are also appropriate. Because the scholarship panel is assessing your ability only, however, ensemble performances will not be accepted.

Videos should be no more than ten minutes in length.

What should I include on my video?
The video should begin with an introduction that includes your name, the intention of the video, and the pieces to be performed. You are encouraged to follow this sample script.

Hello, my name is _______ and I would like to be considered for a music scholarship at University of the Ozarks. Today, I will be performing two pieces. The first piece is ____ by ____, and the second piece is ____ by ____. Thank you for considering my audition.

What should I wear?
You are encouraged to dress in professional attire for their video audition.

How do I submit my video?
Upload your completed video to YouTube. Be sure to make your video public or unlisted (unlisted is encouraged) as private videos will not be accessible to scholarship panelists. Once your video is uploaded, you will provide a link to your video on the scholarship application form.

Theatre
