Clarksville, Ark.-Sophomore right-hander Jeffrey Works continued his strong start to the season by throwing his second complete game in as many starts in Ozarks 5-1 win over Schreiner University Friday.

Works moves his record to 2-0 on the season with victory. He was especially effective when the Eagles (4-5) gave him a lead. With Ozarks holding a 2-0 advantage after two, Works retired the side in the top of the third. Works kept his shutout in tact until the sixth when Schreiner (2-8) got a sacrifice RBI. The Fordyce, Ark., native then worked his way out of a jam in the seventh by inducing a double play ball with runners on. Nick Brill hit a solo home run in the seventh to pad Ozarks lead to 3-1. A Jonathan Cox double in the bottom of the seventh brought in another run. Works then fanned the final batter to end the contest.

Michael Prusator drove in Chris Driedric for the first run of the day in the opening inning. Works kept Schreiner off the board in the second inning to keep Ozarks’ lead.

Chris Young went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for Ozarks.

Works did not issue a walk and struck out five over nine innings.

Ozarks will conclude its series with Schreiner tomorrow with a double-header starting a noon.
