Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O women's tennis team defeated LeTourneau University, 7-2, April 11 and earned a spot in the American Southwest Conference Championships held April 25-26 in Abilene, Texas.

The Lady Eagles will play Hardin-Simmons University, the ASC’s west division winner, on Friday, April 25. It is the first time in school history the Lady Eagles have played in the ASC Championships. “I’m very proud of the way the women have came together as a team,” said head coach Sally Wood. “Our veteran players, Julie Richardson, Karie Allen and Mandy Hock improved their level of play throughout the season. Julie has had another outstanding year for us as the number one singles player on the team. She had a conference record of 4-1. Jessica Bush, Kim Jacky, Debbie Giesecke and Holly Rexroat each made big contributions to the team, too. Karie and Mandy ended the season with a 6-0 overall record and 4-0 conference record as the number two doubles team.” Picking up singles victories against LeTourneau were Julie Richardson (6-2, 6-0), Jessica Bush (6-4, 6-0), Mandy Hock (6-2, 6-4) and Kim Jacky (6-0, 6-1).
