Women’s Soccer Team Starts Season With Two Ties

Clarksville, Ark.- The Lady Eagles started the 2007 season with 0-0-2 record following a pair of weekend ties against non-conference opponents in Texas.

Ozarks (0-0-2, 0-0-0) took on Texas College on Saturday and went into overtime after Heather Dryden tied the match at 2-2 in the 87th minute. After an uneventful first overtime, Ozarks had their chances in the second overtime, but couldn’t convert, and finished the match with a 2-2 tie.

Jessalyn Halsted scored first on an unassisted goal in the 14th minute. Texas College, however, battled back to take a 2-1 lead after scoring a pair of goals in the second half. Halsted assisted on Dryden’s goal.

Ozarks out shot the home team 17-6. Freshman keeper Lori Langman had two saves in her college debut.

On Sunday, Ozarks ended their match against Austin College with a 1-1 tie following two scoreless overtimes.

Austin College (0-0-1, 0-0-0) struck first with a goal in the 56th minute. However, Halsted nailed a shot from 30 yards out in the 81st minute to put the contest at 1-1. Amanda Bohon assisted on the goal. Neither team was able to muster a goal for the next 30 minutes, although Ozarks out shot the Kangaroos 4-0 in the second overtime.

Freshman forward Kristi Gordon led Ozarks with four shots, with Halsted recording three shots on goal.

Langman had 6 saves.

Ozarks will host University of Dallas on September 8 at 1:00 p.m.
