Women’s Soccer Team Drops Conference Opener

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O women's team dropped two conference matches in Texas this weekend.

The Lady Eagles (0-5-0, 0-2-0) were defeated 2-0 on Friday by East Texas Baptist University (3-3-1, 2-0-0). The Lady Tigers scored a goal in the 21st minute and another in the 57th minute to seal the win. Ozarks had nine shots in the match with Kate Schoenhals recording three of those. All of Schoenhals’ shots were shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Falls had ten saves in the loss. On Saturday, LeTourneau University (3-4-0, 1-1-0) scored one goal in the first half and another in the second half to upend Ozarks 2-0. LeTourneau scored a goal in the 28th minute and held a 1-0 lead until Ozarks gave up another goal in the 84th minute. LeTourneau allowed only one shot in the second half. The Lady Eagles, however, did record six shots in the first half. Terah McGill led the team with three shots with all of those being shots on goal. Falls had four saves in the match. Ozarks will have their conference home-opener against UT-Dallas on September 23 and then face UT-Tyler on September 24. The men’s match begins at 1 p.m. and will be followed by the women’s match at 3 p.m. on both days.
