UT-Tyler Women Cruise To Win

Clarksville, Ark.-UT-Tyler jumped out to a 40-27 halftime lead and then cruised to a 89-59 win over the Lady Eagles Saturday in American Southwest Conference action.

The Patriots (15-8, 12-6) raced out to a 14-8 lead in the opening 13 minutes of play and never looked back. Ozarks (5-18, 3-15) trimmed it to 24-15 on an April Young basket with 8:40 left in the half, but the Patriots quickly got it back to a double-digit game. UT-Tyler then shot a sizzling 58 percent from the field in the second half to eventually go up 49-29. The Patriots extended it to 74-48 with 8:50 to go to keep Ozarks from a comeback.

Sabrina Goddard led the team with 12 points and Alison Villines scored 10.

Ozarks will travel to Longview, Texas, to play LeTourneau February 19 and then on to Marshall, Texas, to play East Texas Baptist University February 21.

Game Notes:
-It was the final home game for four seniors – Chandra Briggs, Emma Cantele, Olivia Fisher and Kasie Osmond.
-Olivia Fisher is 12 points shy of reaching the 1,000 career point plateau.
