Clarksville, Ark.-UT-Tyler drilled a program record 17 three-pointers to cruise to an easy 94-66 victory over the Eagles Saturday in American Southwest Conference play in Tyler, Texas.

The Patriots (13-9, 9-8 ASC) hit 6-of-11 from behind the arc in the first half and then proceeded to nail 11 in the second half to put the game out of reach. The Patriots ended the game hitting 17-of-29 (58%) from long range. UT-Tyler never gained control of the first half, but did end the final 2:35 with a 10-2 run to hold a 40-33 halftime lead. Ozarks’ (8-14, 6-11 ASC) biggest lead of the first half (6 points) came after a Blake Mitchem layup with 10:11 left.

After keeping it close for the first five minutes of the second half, the Patriots began draining three-pointers from all areas of the court. One, which came at the 12:45 mark, gave UT-Tyler a 58-47 lead. The Patriots then hit eight treys in the final ten minutes of action to put the contest beyond a possible Ozarks’ comeback.

Mitchem led Ozarks with 22 points. Jerard McGinty, who hit 4-of-8 from the three-point line, had 16 points. Andre Williams finished with 10 points.

Ozarks will end the regular season against LeTourneau University February 18 and East Texas Baptist University February 20.
