Clarksville, Ark.-UT-Dallas scored the game-winning goal with 32 minutes left in the match and then held off a furious rally from Ozarks to pick up a 1-0 win in their American Southwest Conference opener Saturday.

It was a tale of two halves for the Eagles (4-2-0, 0-1-0), who only got one shot in the first 45 minutes of action. However, Ozarks built a solid offensive attack in the second half, firing off 13 shots and recording six corner kicks. Tanner Holman had a couple of chances to score in the second half, but the UT-Dallas (4-1-2, 1-0-0) defense was able to make a play and preserve the win. The Eagles attack was especially strong following UT-Dallas’ header in the 58th minute as they produced 10 shots during the final stretch.

Holman and Francisco Garza each recorded three shots apiece.

Neil Thompson stopped one ball in goal for the Eagles.

Ozarks will continue ASC play when it plays road matches against Mississippi College September 24 and Louisiana College September 26.
