Ozarks got just two hits in the game, with Jamie Johnson and Kara Bartholomew each recording one hit apiece. UT-Dallas had seven hits in the game. Amanda Luney (5-4) received the loss. UT-Dallas would break a 1-1 tie and score the game-winning run in the top of the seventh to lift themselves to a 2-1 win over Ozarks in the second game. The Lady Comets would strike first, scoring one run in the first inning to take a 1-0 advantage. Ozarks answered with one run of their own in the second when Dana Marvin crossed the plate. Marvin reached base on a long double to left field, which hit near the top of the fence. Bartholomew recorded the RBI on Marvin’s score. Ozarks would have other opportunities to score in the second, but left three runners on base. After battling to a 1-1 tie through six innings, the Lady Comets received the game-winning RBI from pinch hitter Stephanie Herrera in the top of the seventh. Ozarks looked to tie the contest in their final at-bat when Shannon Rainbolt led off the inning with a single. Rainbolt reached second on a passed ball with one out, but that would be as far as she would get. Rainbolt led the team with two hits. Marvin (8-3) received the loss. Ozarks will continue their ASC match up with UT-Dallas tomorrow in a double-header beginning at 11 a.m.
