University schedules walking/running program

Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks will present an informational program on long distance walking and running at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25, in the Walton Fine Arts center.

The program is open to the public and there is no cost for admission.

The program, which is part of the university’s Walton Arts and Ideas Series and Community Education Program, will be hosted by Tom and Hobbit Singleton. The Singletons are award-winning long distance walkers/runners who have led numerous training sessions for the Little Rock Marathon and other races. They are the official head coaches for training for the 2010 Little Rock Marathon.

The program will include information such as the health benefits of long distance training, how to get started safely and successfully, how to set up training schedules, and marathon participation.
