Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks' Walton Arts & Ideas Series will present the unique performance of "Music for Awhile" at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 23, at the Walton Fine Arts Center.
Based out of Wisconsin, the duo of “Music for Awhile” features unique “art song” programs, using props, costumes and conversations with the audience to evoke a wonderful vocal art form. Art songs, written in the period spanning the early 1800s through the first decade of the 20th Century, are considered one of the most distinctive music forms ever developed. They are generally duets in which the vocalist and accompanist work together in equal importance. The pieces were most often written to be performed in a home setting, but over the years, they have found their way to the concert stage. Part concert, part history lesson, part poetry reading, part dramatic performance, “Music for Awhile” brings this unusual musical form to life for modern audiences. Tickets for the event are $10 each and can be purchased at the ticket office on the day of the concert or by calling 979-1346.
