Clarksville, Ark. --- Selections from the Mid-Southern Watercolorists 39th Annual Exhibition will be on display at the University of the Ozarks' Stephens Gallery throughout the month of March as part of the university's Artist of the Month series.
The selection of colorful works from the juried exhibition depicts various approaches to the watercolor medium. The exhibit features traditional landscapes, detailed still-lifes, portraits and bold abstractions. This year’s exhibit was held at the Arkansas Arts Center Community Gallery in the Terry House in Little Rock.
The Mid-South Watercolorists organization was founded in Little Rock in 1970 by five artists and has grown to include more than 250 members. The group was founded with the goal of elevating the stature of watercolor as an important creative and permanent painting medium.
The exhibit will be available for public viewing through March 31, in the Stephens Gallery, which is located in the Walton Fine Arts Center on the north side of campus. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and there is no charge for admission. For more information on the art show, contact the university at (479) 979-1349.
