U of O to host free beginning beekeeping workshop

University of the Ozarks will host a three-part course titled Beekeeping for Beginners in September.

The course, which will be presented by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension, is free and open to the public and will be held on three consecutive Tuesdays --- Sept. 4, 11 and 18. The workshops will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Rogers Conference Center on the U of O campus.

The course will teach the basics of obtaining and keeping honey bees safely and successfully. Among the topics that will be covered include, The Beehive and Other Equipment, Introduction to Bee Biology, How to Get Your First Bees, Seasonal Hive Management, Harvesting Your Honey, Keeping Hives Healthy, and Honey Bee Laws and Regulations.
