Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore pitcher Tyler Erickson was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst.
Erickson, a native of Cabot, Ark., tossed a complete-game with eight strikeouts to earn the win in a 4-1 game with Westminster College Saturday. The 6-foot, 210-pound right-hander scattered four hits over the nine frames and did not allow a hit after the sixth inning. After giving up one hit in the first frame, he did not allow another hit until the fifth inning. He improved his record to 1-1.
This season, he has tossed 10.2 innings and fanned ten in two starts.
He is a graduate of Cabot High School where he earned All-Conference his junior and senior campaign.
Ozarks (2-4) will host Schreiner University in a three-game series this weekend beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m. Saturday’s double-header will start at 12:00 p.m.
