Clarksville, Ark. --- University of the Ozarks senior Tristan Cooper was named the American Southwest Conference men's cross country Runner of the Week, it was announced by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst Tuesday.
Cooper, a native of Jasper, Ark., was the top NCAA Division III runner to finish at the 4-mile Brooks Memphis Twilight with a 21:57 Saturday. He finished 61st in the field of 200 runners from all NCAA divisions.
Cooper was named All-Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, All-Conference First Team and finished second at the ASC championships in 2010.
Cooper, who was voted the 2010-2011 Ozarks’ Male Athlete of the Year, is a graduate of the Arkansas School for Math & Sciences.
Ozarks will travel to Joplin, Mo., to run in the Southern Stampede September 17.
