Tigers Fight Off Late Eagles’ Rally

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles came back from a large second half deficit only to see East Texas Baptist University pull out a 73-62 victory Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play.

East Texas Baptist (14-5, 11-4 ASC) had a 64-53 lead with 4:05 remaining in the game, but the Eagles (6-15, 3-13 ASC) fought back to within seven points after a pair of free throws from Isaiah Boxell and Marcus Bobb. The Tigers answered with four free throws of their own to hold a 68-57 advantage with 2:26 left. Ozarks would score on their next possession when Kasey Lewis hit a shot. However, the Eagles missed two shots and committed a turnover in their ensuing possessions.

Ozarks played well in the first half, hitting nearly fifty percent of their shots. Andre Williams paced Ozarks with 11 first half points. Williams gave the Eagles a 29-21 lead with 6:25 remaining on a shot from long-range. Ozarks would end the half with a 32-29 advantage.

The Tigers started the second half with a 11-0 run to take control of the game. East Texas Baptist would eventually built a 16-point lead before Ozarks run late in the contest.

Marcus Bobb had 17 points and Williams added 15. Lewis had 10 rebounds.

The Eagles will host Louisiana College February 10 and Mississippi College February 12.
