Texas Lutheran Completes Baseball Sweep

Clarksville, Ark.-Texas Lutheran University completed a three-game sweep of the Eagles with a 3-2 win and 11-3 win Saturday in Clarksville.

In game one, Texas Lutheran (7-4) took a 1-0 lead in the second and then increased its advantage to 3-0 in the fourth. Ozarks (2-11) mounted a comeback in the sixth when Kurt Shemanske led off the bottom half with a single. Freddy Prince followed with a triple to score Shemanske. Mitchell Powers then recorded a sacrifice fly to score Prince. Ozarks had one more hit in the inning, this one coming from Michael Prusator, but Texas Lutheran got a ground out to end the frame. Tyler Erickson started and went five innings. He was charged with three earned runs and credited with one strikeout. Travis Conner pitched two scoreless innings and fanned one. After Conner held the Bulldogs hitless in the final frame, All-America Brad Orosey closed out the game with three strikeouts and a walk.

Shemanske led Ozarks with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

Erickson (1-2) took the loss.

It was the fourth one-run loss of the season for Ozarks.

In game two, the Bulldogs scored eight runs on five hits and three errors in the second to hand Ozarks its ninth straight loss. With Texas Lutheran holding a 9-0 lead, Ozarks got on the board in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs on two hits. Ozarks would score just once more in the game, which came in the fourth on Drew Clark’s RBI double.

The Bulldogs roughed up starter Freddy Prince (0-1) for nine runs, but only one was earned.

Erickson went 2-for-4 to lead Ozarks at the plate.

Ozarks will travel to Austin, Texas, to face Concordia University Texas for a three-game set March 4-5.
