Clarksville, Ark.-Texas-Dallas scored four runs in the bottom of the third and starting pitcher Mark Cox went the distance in a 7-2 win over the #24 Eagles in American Southwest Conference play on Friday.

The Comets’ big third inning started with three consecutive singles and ended with the home team ahead 5-0. The Comets scored two more runs in the fourth to increase their lead to 7-0, and Cox (5-1) did the rest as he held the Eagles’ red-hot offense in check. Cox, who pitched a no-hitter earlier in the season, allowed only seven hits and struck out eight in his appearance. Both of Ozarks’ runs came in the top of the sixth when Robert Mummey had a two-run single.

Ozarks drops to 16-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Texas-Dallas improves to 14-6 and 1-3.

Todd Koch (3-2) took the loss. Koch went four innings and fanned four. Bill Smith finished the game on the mound and allowed just two hits. Smith had four strikeouts. Bruce Cameron and Cory Briggs each went 2-for-4.

The Eagles will continue their series tomorrow in a double-header beginning at 12:00 p.m.
