Richardson, Texas-Texas-Dallas designated hitter Brandon Clounch blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Comets to a 4-0 win over Ozarks Monday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

The Comets (11-8, 3-0 ASC) then pounded out 12 hits to earn a 9-1 win in game two.

In game one Monday, the Comets overcame an outstanding pitcher effort by Tyler Erickson (3-2). Erickson allowed just three hits, two of which were in the sixth, and struck out four in six innings of work. Erickson had retired nine straight batters at one point during the game, but Texas-Dallas pitcher Jason Fink was equally effective as he limited Ozarks (6-10, 0-3 ASC) to three hits. The Eagles threatened in the fourth and the seventh innings, but came away empty. It was Clounch’s first homer of the season.

In game two, Texas-Dallas scored in all but two innings and limited Ozarks’ bats to six hits. The Eagles trailed 3-1 after four, but the Comets added two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Michael Prusator recorded the lone RBI of the entire three-game series in the third. Nick Brill paced Ozarks with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

Josh Stoffregen (0-1) took the loss.

Ozarks will host East Texas Baptist University March 16-17 in a three-game series starting Friday at 2:00 p.m. Saturday’s double-header can be heard on www.kxio.nu.
