Tennis Teams Open Season Against John Brown University

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's and women's tennis teams opened the season with losses to John Brown University on Saturday in Conway.

The Lady Eagles lost 9-0 and the men were defeated 6-3. Lee Short and Josue Ayala each won their singles matches. Short defeated Austin Phillips 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. Ayala won 6-0, 6-2 against Roberto Reyes. Kevin Edwards and Keith Edwards combined to pick up a doubles victory, 9-8 (7-2) over Kyle Carter and Peter Thulson. The men took on Hendrix College on Saturday and were defeated 5-2. Jordan Bass defeated Pascal Jaque 5-7, 6-3, (10-6) in singles play. Ayala defeated Zach Cable 6-1, 5-7 (10-6). The Eagles and Lady Eagles will host Harding University on March 17 at 2:00 p.m.
