The Department of Education announced a further delay to release batches of FAFSA information (ISIRs) to schools until the first half of March.

Tennis Team Moves To 1-1 In ASC

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's and women's tennis team opened the American Southwest Conference 2009 spring season with a 1-1 record following a road trip to Louisiana and Mississippi over the weekend.

Against Louisiana College March 6, the Lady Eagles (1-5, 1-1) dominated in singles play and defeated the Wildcats 8-1. Lea Rana defeated Tiffany Broussard (6-1, 6-2), Briar Vona defeated Natalie Mazhambe (6-1, 6-4), Lauren Jardieu defeated Maggie Hixon (6-7, 6-1, 10-0), Brittany Hein defeated Rebecca Massey (6-3, 7-5), Jennifer Fretwell defeated Jessica Ward (6-1, 6-2) and Lindsey Hanna defeated Meghan Melder (6-1, 6-2). In doubles play, Rana and Vona won 8-6, Hein and Jardieu won 8-6 and Fretwell and Hanna won 8-0.

The Lady Eagles then traveled to Clinton, Mississippi, to face ASC opponent Mississippi College March 7. Ozarks dropped the match 9-0.

The Eagles (2-4, 1-1) cruised to an easy 8-1 win over Louisiana College. In singles play, Brandon Carlson defeated Avi Shingwani (7-5, 6-2), Michael Laws defeated Troy Folse (6-2, 7-6), Brett Spahn defeated Ryan Meadows (6-1, 6-1), Tyler Wilson defeated Mike Sumner (6-0, 6-0) and Aaron Alderman defeated Jayson Stewart (6-0, 6-0). Keith Edwards and Spahn won their doubles match 8-3. Carlson and Laws teamed up for a 8-0 win and Wilson and Mike Slider took a 8-0 victory.

Against Mississippi College, the Eagles were defeated 9-0.

The women will host Arkansas Tech University March 17 in Clarksville.
