Tennis Team Defeats LeTourneau; Drops UT-Tyler Match

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's and women's tennis team defeated LeTourneau University on March 25, but dropped both matches to UT-Tyler in American Southwest Conference action.

The Lady Eagles move to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in ASC play while the Eagles hold a 2-6 overall record and a 1-1 mark in league action. The Lady Eagles won 6-3 against LeTourneau, but suffered a 0-9 loss to UT-Tyler. Against LeTourneau, Olivia Fisher (6-3, 6-4), Robin Gattis (6-0, 6-1), Lea Rana (6-3, 6-0) and Ember Smith (8-5) each won singles matches. Rana and Fisher teamed up for a 8-6 victory in doubles play as did Brittany Hein and Smith (8-5). The Eagles won 6-1 against LeTourneau, but dropped their match against UT-Tyler 0-7. Lee Short (6-1, 6-2), Paul Northcutt (6-2, 6-2), Keith Edwards (6-3, 7-5), Jordan Bass (6-0, 6-3) and Josue Ayala (6-0, 6-2) each had victories in singles play. Zach Schiff and Short gained a 8-4 win in doubles action. Kevin and Keith Edwards teamed up for a 8-2 win while Ayala and Bass recorded a 8-2 victory in doubles play. The Lady Eagles will host Louisiana College on April 1 at 10:00 a.m. and Hendrix College on April 4 at 3:00 p.m. The Eagles and Lady Eagles will host Oklahoma Wesleyan on April 5 at 3:00 p.m.
