Tech Defeats Ozarks In I-40 Battle

Clarksville, Ark.-The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run fourth inning to pick up a 6-2 victory over the Eagles in non-conference action on Tuesday night in Russellville.

Tech (26-17) was the first to get on the board when they scored one run in the bottom of the first. Ozarks (13-21) answered in the top of the second with a run when Josh Underwood drew a bases loaded walk to make the score 1-1. Brian Heckmann scored the game-tying run after slapping a single to right field in his first at bat of the game. Tech then opened up the game in the fourth when they scored three runs on two hits, making the score 4-1. The Wonder Boys would add two more in the fifth and hold the Eagles scoreless for the final three innings of play. Ozarks did score one run in the sixth to cut the deficit to 6-2 when Underwood drew his second bases loaded walk of the evening. The Eagles would end the inning with three runners left on base. Ozarks matched Tech’s hit total with seven, all coming from seven different players. The Eagles left ten runners on base. Underwood led the team with two RBI. Justin Jennings (2-3) received the loss. Ozarks travels to Tyler, Texas, to face UT-Tyler in a three-game conference series beginning with a nine-inning game on April 16. The series will continue on April 17 with a double-header beginning at 1 p.m.
