Sul Ross State Needs Second Half Comeback

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O women's basketball team was defeated by American Southwest Conference West division opponent Sul Ross State on Saturday in Alpine, Texas.

The Lady Eagles (3-4, 0-0) dropped a 73-65 decision to the Lady Lobos (4-3, 0-1) despite holding a 31-28 halftime lead. Four of Ozarks starters reached double figures in scoring with senior guard Tiffany Villines leading the way with 17 points. Villines hit a season-best 5-of-10 three-pointers in the game. Jenna Corbell recorded 12 points and a team-high four rebounds. Jamie Johnson scored 11 points and hit 3-of-7 three-pointers. Mandi Carter, the team’s leading scorer (16.4 ppg), had 10 points. The Lady Eagles were limited in their second chance points by recording only four offensive rebounds. Sul Ross gathered 64 rebounds in the game while Ozarks totaled 28. The Lady Eagles, however, out shot the Lady Lobos from the field (41% to 37%). Ozarks returns to Clarksville for a five-game home stand starting Thursday with a double-header against Schreiner and continuing with a Saturday afternoon twinbill against Texas Lutheran.
