Pineville, La.-Senior forward Tony Santoro scored a pair of second half goals to lead Ozarks to a 3-0 American Southwest Conference-opening win over Louisiana College Thursday in Pineville, La.
The Eagles (2-3-0, 1-0-0) were tied 0-0 at the half to a much-improved Louisiana College team. However, Ozarks scored just 58 seconds into the second half to gain momentum. Santoro recorded that goal on a pass from Tanner Holman. Eloy Salgado scored his fifth goal of the season on an assist from Adrian Nunez in the 53rd minute. Ozarks final goal came when an attacking Marcus Aldaba drew a foul from behind in the box. Santoro then converted the penalty kick to give Ozarks a 3-0 lead in the 64th minute. Santoro now has four goals on the season. Behind a number of young players, Ozarks posted an advantage in shots (11-8) and corner kicks (4-2). The Wildcats fall to 1-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the ASC.
Ozarks will play at Mississippi College Saturday.
