Marshall, Texas-East Texas Baptist University hit 23 field goals and scored 53 points in the first half to set the tone for a 97-78 win over the Eagles in American Southwest Conference play Thursday night.

The Eagles (6-14, 3-11 ASC) would come back in the second half and hold a 73-72 lead with 8:33 remaining in the game. But the Tigers (9-11, 5-9 ASC) erupted for a quick 14 points to move ahead 86-73. Ozarks went scoreless over that four minute stretch and consequently never got the deficit below ten points when it needed to the most.

Ronnie Dodd and Marcus Bobb carried Ozarks in the first half scoring a combined 29 points. The Eagles maintained the lead for the first 13 minutes of the first half, but then trailed 51-38 with 1:22 left. Ozarks held the lead three times in the second half, with the latter coming at 8:33 mark. The Eagles hit only 26 percent from the field in the second half.

Dodd finished with 30 points. Bobb and Andrew Cummings each contributed 15 points.

Ozarks will travel to Texas-Tyler for an ASC game Saturday.
