Spring 2024 Commencement set for May 11

University of the Ozarks is expected to confer degrees on approximately 100 graduates during its 2024 Spring Commencement ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, May 11.

The graduation ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on the campus mall in front of Robson Library. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to Mabee Gymnasium. The ceremony will also be livestreamed on the University’s YouTube page.

The Commencement keynote speaker will be 1987 alumnus and current University Board of Trustee member Peter Van Dyke, who is the vice president of complex casualty claims at CNA Insurance headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

CNA was founded in 1897 and is the seventh largest commercial insurer in the United States. Van Dyke leads several claim teams devoted to the handling of high exposure claims throughout the U.S. and provides strategic guidance and financial authority to CNA’s claim operations worldwide, including CNA’s offices in Europe and Canada.  Since joining CNA in 2004, he has held various positions in the CNA Claim and Law Departments. Van Dyke is married to his wife of 27 years, Heleine, and they have four adult children residing in Florida and California

Graduation Week will also include a Senior Dinner for graduates and faculty members at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. A Baccalaureate service will be held in Munger-Wilson Chapel at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 10, followed by the Brick Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on the campus mall. Both of the events on May 10 are open to families of the graduates.
