Softball Team Splits In Season Opener

Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagle softball team split with Ouachita Baptist in their season opener on Tuesday afternoon at Hurie Field.

Ouachita (1-1, 0-0) scored four runs in the first inning in a 5-0 shutout over the Lady Eagles (1-1, 0-0) in the first game. Sophomore second baseman Regan Brown led Ozarks with two hits. Amanda Luney (0-1) pitched seven innings and struck out three batters. The afternoon’s second game saw the Lady Eagles rally for two runs in the first inning and one run in the fifth inning on their way to a 3-1 victory. The Lady Eagles recorded eight hits while holding the Lady Tigers to four. Seven different Lady Eagles recorded hits in the game. Freshman pitcher Brandi Blake earned her first win of her collegiate career after pitching seven innings and striking out one batter. The Lady Eagles will play Arkansas Tech University on February 20 in a double-header in Russellville.
