Clarksville, Ark.-The softball team moved to 4-0 after gaining a Sunday sweep at the University of Dallas Tournament in Irving, Texas.
On Sunday, Ozarks shut out University of Dallas 8-0 in game one, and then picked up an exciting 6-5 extra-inning victory over Howard Payne in game two. Against University of Dallas, Amber Rollins threw a one-hitter and fanned 12, which tied a school record. Dana Marvin struck out 12 against Greenville College March 14, 2006. Ozarks built a 3-0 lead after three and then generated two more runs in the fourth. The Lady Eagles pounded out five hits in the sixth and scored three more times. Four different players had two hits for Ozarks. In six innings of work, Rollins walked two.
Against Howard Payne Sunday, Kelsey Stephens smashed the game-winning hit to the leftfield fence to score Casey Mays and Ali Mathis in the eighth.
Mathis finished 3-for-4.
Rollins (3-0) received the win after tossing eight innings and surrendering nine hits. She struck out seven.
Ozarks will head to Farmers Branch, Texas, for the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament March 2-3.
