Mr. Don Key, of Hanna Oil & Gas Company, will be the featured speaker for the SIFE/PBL Distinguished Speaker Series.

Key is a landman for Hanna Oil & Gas Company in Fort Smith. He graduated in 1983 from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Business Administration. While at OU, Key started at right guard several years for Sooner football teams that were ranked highly in the nation and won several conference championships and bowl games. During a game in 1981 he suffered a blow to his right side which ruptured his kidney. While examining the damage, it was also determined that he had cancer in the injured kidney, but fortunately he survived the injury and the cancer.

Following the injury, Coach Barry Switzer established the Don Key Award, which is given annually to an OU player or players which best exemplify the attributes of Key on the field and in the classroom. Each year Key is allowed the privilege of presenting the award at the last home game in Norman. At the same time Switzer established the award, a generous Sooner fan also established the Don Key Scholarship, which is given annually to a student athlete at OU who is pursuing a higher degree.

Following graduation, Key went to work in the oil and gas business as a landman where he continues to serve till this day. He has served the last 23 years at Hanna Oil and Gas Company.

In 2006, Bill Hanna established the Don Key Leadership Scholarship in the Energy Management Program at OU.
