Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles snapped a three-game losing skid with a 72-67 victory over Austin College in American Southwest Conference play on Monday.
Jacob Sibley’s back-to-back three-pointers with less than four minutes remaining pushed the Eagles (6-6, 4-5) past Austin College (2-10, 1-8) in a tight battle at Mabee Gymnasium. Sibley’s first three came at the 3:13 mark and would cut Ozarks’ deficit to 65-63. His second trey came just seconds later and would give Ozarks the lead for good and a 66-65 cushion. Ozarks’ late push began with a Brent Johnson jumper with 3:46 remaining, which would ignite the Eagles on a 13-4 run to finish the game. Ozarks shot just 30 percent from the field in the first half, but managed a 29-24 lead at intermission, and then came out in the second half with a balanced scoring effort to upend the Kangaroos. Josh Joyner’s 17 points paved the way for Ozarks. Sibley followed with 16 points and Habeeb Kareem and Johnson scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. David Hamilton recorded a team-best 6 rebounds. Ozarks will host UT-Dallas in ASC action on January 13 at 7:30 p.m.
