Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks Lady Eagles junior Christie Shuffield has been named the American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball East Division Preseason Player of the Year in a poll conducted by league coaches.
By Larry Isch, Director of Public Relations The 6-foot-1 center from Dover, Ark., led the conference in blocked shots per game (3.04) last year, while finishing fifth in scoring (15.0) and eighth in rebounding (7.8). The two-time all-conference selection set a school record for blocked shots in a season with 70 last year. The Lady Eagle were picked to finish fifth in the eight-team ASC East Division. The Eagles were tabbed to finish second in the men’s East Division race.
