Shannon Scribner Named ASC Player of the Week

Clarksville, Ark.-U of O freshman post Shannon Scribner was named American Southwest Conference East Division men's basketball Player of the Week after leading the Eagles (3-3, 0-0) to wins over previously unbeaten Mary-Hardin Baylor and Concordia-Austin.

Scribner, a 6-4, 195-pound native of Little Rock, averaged 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in ASC crossover games on Thursday and Saturday. Scribner came up big in the Mary-Hardin Baylor win, scoring a team-high 12 points and hitting two clutch jumpers in the final moments. Scribner’s bucket with 46 seconds remaining gave Ozarks a 62-59 advantage and helped seal the win. He followed Thursday’s performance by scoring 10 points and grabbing 6 rebounds against Concordia-Austin on Saturday. He has started in each of the Eagles’ six games this season and is averaging 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting 57 percent from the field. He is a graduate of McClellan High School.
