Clarksville, Ark.-The East Texas Baptist University Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Eagles 40-24 in the second half to take a 67-51 victory Saturday in American Southwest Conference action in Marshall, Texas.
Ozarks (4-10, 2-8 ASC) went into halftime tied 27-27 and even held a 37-31 lead in the second half. April Young drilled a three-pointer to give Ozarks their six-point advantage and an Alison Villines bucket with 10:06 remaining in the game put Ozarks up 39-35. However, the Lady Tigers (5-9, 4-6 ASC) hit a three-pointer on their next possession and then made a pair of free throws on their next trip down to take their first lead of the second half, 40-39, with 8:10 left. A second straight Kelsey Harris three-pointer pushed East Texas Baptist’s lead to 43-39. Ozarks made one last push late, as Ally Goddard and Ashley Teague hit back-to-back trey’s to get the Lady Eagles within 49-45 at the 4:55 mark. The Lady Tigers then went on a 16-6 surge to end the game with a 16-point victory.
Young led Ozarks with 14 points, eight rebounds and four steals. She hit four three-pointers. Teague, who hit two three-pointers, followed with 12 points. Goddard also had a pair of three-pointers.
