Clarksville, Ark.-Schreiner University scored the game-winning goal in the 107th minute to secure a 1-0 overtime win against the Eagles Friday in American Southwest Conference play.
Schreiner’s Taylor Bontz received the ball from Kenny Benson to put home the game-clinching goal just minutes before the match would end. Statistically, the teams were nearly even. Ozarks (3-8-0, 2-5-0) finished the match with 13 shots, while Schreiner (4-1-1) had 17. Both teams had five corner kicks and both team had six shots on goal. The difference in the match came in the second overtime as the Mountaineers recorded three shots while Ozarks did not. Ozarks surged in the second half, tallying seven shots and four corner kicks. Tanner Holman hit the post on his shot attempt in the 85th minute that could have changed the outcome.
Ozarks goalkeeper Neil Thompson posted five saves.
Ozarks will face Texas Lutheran University tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
