Santa Cruz, Calif.-Perennial power UC Santa Cruz used a goal late in the first half to hand the University of the Ozarks men's soccer team a 1-0 loss in Santa Cruz, California on Sunday.

The Banana Slugs (2-0-0, 0-0-0) got a goal in the 41st minute by David Franks that proved to be enough to secure the non-conference match. The defensive battle saw Santa Cruz record 16 shots while the Eagles finished with 8 shots. Jared Gordon led the team with 3 shots. Brian Sarber had 6 saves for Ozarks. Ozarks moves to 1-1-0 following their California trip. The Eagles host Hendrix College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
