Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman forward Guido Salas scored in the 3rd minute and then added a pair of second half goals to complete a hat trick in Ozarks 5-2 American Southwest Conference win over Howard Payne Thursday.

The 5-foot-10, 155-pound Houston, Texas, native got the Eagles (8-2-2, 3-2-1) going early when one of his team-high five shots on goal whizzed past the Howard Payne goalkeeper with barely over two minutes played in the match. Howard Payne, however, scored in the 23rd minute to end the half at 1-1.

Salas, who came into the match tied for first in the ASC in assists, struck again early after halftime when he scored just 35 seconds into the second half. His third goal came in the 66th minute on a pass from Matt Engelman. The Yellow Jackets (4-3-2, 3-3-1) made things interesting when they scored in the 78th minute to make it 3-2. The Eagles answered quickly as Dylan Evans scored 22 seconds later and Brandon Pierson would finish the day’s scoring in the 84th minute on an assist from Salas.

Anthony Santoro, Philip Johnson and Devon Utley posted assists in the match.
