Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks junior center Sabrina Goddard was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season, it was announced Monday by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst.
Goddard, who won the award in November and December, averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to fuel division road wins against LeTourneau and Texas-Tyler. She shot 19-of-36 (52%) from the floor in the two wins. Goddard, a native of Stroud, Okla., had 20 points and seven rebounds against LeTourneau January 13. The 6-foot-1 Goddard then pumped in 24 points and pulled down 15 rebounds against Texas-Tyler January 15. Goddard dominated the second half against Texas-Tyler, scoring 10 straight points during a key five-minute stretch. Ozarks had not won two consecutive road games against ASC East Division opponents since the 2001-2002 season.
Goddard has been among the top players in the ASC all season, ranking third in scoring (16.3) and fifth in rebounding (8.5). She is the league-leader in blocks (3.3) and ranks thirteenth in NCAA III in that category.
She has posted four double-doubles this season and has scored in double figures in all but two games.
Goddard was named to the ASC All-East Division Second Team last year and is a two-time member of the ASC All-Academic Team.
She is a graduate of Stroud High School where she was named an All-State Alternate, All-Region and All-Conference her senior season.
Ozarks (9-7, 5-6 ASC) will travel to Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College January 20.
