Clarksville, Ark.-Ryan Skelly's two-goal performance lifted the University of the Ozarks men's soccer team past Austin College 3-1 in American Southwest Conference play at Sherman, Texas, on Saturday.
Freshman Cody Ellis opened the match up early with a goal in the 5th minute, and then Skelly added another score in the 19th minute to give Ozarks (7-1-1, 3-0-1) a comfortable 2-0 lead. Ron Hogsett notched the assist on Ellis’ goal and Jarod Thompson received the assist on Skelly’s score. Austin College (5-4-0, 3-2-0) answered with a goal in the 24th minute to trim the lead to 2-1 at halftime. ????? Skelly would strike again in the 65th minute off a feed from Malcolm Williams to put the game out of reach for the Kangaroos. Skelly now has five goals and two assists on the year. The Eagles improved their all-time record to 10-7-1 against Austin College. ????? Both teams recorded 14 shots apiece in the match. Skelly had his best scoring output of the season after tallying five shots, with four of those being shots on goal. ????? Freshman goalkeeper Brian Sarber made six saves for Ozarks. ????? Ozarks will travel to Clinton, Mississippi, to face Mississippi College on October 7 and Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College on October 8.
