Rust College No Match For Wiseman’s Eagles

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's and women's tennis teams took commanding 9-0 wins against Rust College Tuesday in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

The 9-0 women’s sweep saw Whitney Lewis, Chelsea Glasscock, Tara Richards, Kalli Simpson, Macie Kelley and Megan Wallace cruise to singles wins. Kelley bounced back from a 4-6 first-set loss to earn a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win. Glasscock and Richards paired for an easy 8-0 doubles win. Kelley and Simpson earned a 8-4 doubles win, and Young and Lewis had an 8-1 doubles win. The win for Lewis and Young improved their record to 3-2 this season.

The men’s team was just as impressive in their 9-0 domination. The Eagles continue to march to one of their best seasons in program history with a 7-2 overall record. In singles play, Bishop Bass, Corey Dillard, Michael Skimbo, Scott Eibes, Gregg Knaggs and Bill Blake all posted wins. Bass has just one loss in singles action this season. Doubles play went smoothly for Ozarks as Todd Turner and Bass paired for a 8-0 win. Eibes and Skimbo had a 8-1 win, and Matt Arant and Blake won 8-0. The decisive win for Arant puts him at 5-3 in doubles play for his career.

Under Head Coach Shaun Wiseman, Ozarks has not lost to Rust College since his arrival in 2009.

Ozarks will host Harding University March 15 at 1:00 p.m.
