Ron Hogsett Ties School Record With Four Goals

Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman forward Ron Hogsett tied the school record with four goals in a 9-0 smashing of Mississippi College in American Southwest Conference action on Saturday.

Hogsett’s record setting day was highlighted by his three-goal performance in the first ten minutes of the match. The 5-7, 150-pounder from McKinney, Texas scored in the 4th, 6th and 9th minutes of the match to help Ozarks establish a quick 3-0 lead. The Eagles (10-5-0, 6-3-0) would score twice more to increase their lead to 5-0 at halftime on goals by Will Masterson (Georgetown, TX) and Aaron Coats (Boise, ID). Ricky Herrera (Las Cruces, NM) scored his eleventh goal of the season in the 54th minute. Hogsett would tie the record, set last season by Armando Vergara, in the 59th minute. Hogsett also recorded one assist in the match. Zack Boatwright (Dallas, TX) and Sid Halliday (Dallas, TX) also connected on goals for Ozarks. Daniel Faires (Springdale, AR), Josh Edgmon (Broken Arrow, OK), Mark Meade (Rogers, AR), Boatwright and Masterson were credited with assists. The Eagles out shot Mississippi College (1-11-0, 0-8-0) 26 to 8. Goalkeepers Chris Schultz (Coppell, TX) and Nick Courtney (Dallas, TX) shared the shut out and helped the Eagles set a new single season school record with 10 shut outs. Ozarks will travel to Marshall, Texas to play East Texas Baptist on October 25 in ASC action. The Eagles defeated East Texas Baptist 1-0 in their previous match up. Following their trip to Marshall, Ozarks will play LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas on October 26.
