Rogers State Hands Eagles 2-1 Loss

Clarksville, Ark.-Rogers State University needed a goal in the 74th minute to pull off a 2-1 upset of the Eagles on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference play.

The Hillcats (8-3-2, 3-1-1) scored 30 seconds into the match to gain early momentum. But Ozarks (11-3-0, 6-1-0) came back in the 26th minute when Brandon VanCleave scored his fifth goal of the season to tie the match. Matt Engelman received the assist. Rogers State’s Brett Jones then found the net late in the contest to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Ozarks collected nine shots, with Engelman and Darren Clark each recording two. Brian Sarber started the match in goal and finished with four saves. Jeffery Enevoldsen ended the match with one save.

Ozarks will travel to Belton, Texas, to face University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on October 12 in ASC play. The Eagles will then go to Brownwood, Texas, to face Howard Payne University on October 13.
