Clarksville, Ark.-U of O senior forward Ricky Herrera was named American Southwest Conference East Division men's soccer Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Eagles last two matches.
Herrera, a 5-10, 155-pound native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, netted a pair of goals off seven shots, including a game-winner, to help the Eagles to 1-0-1 week. Herrera’s goal in the 35th minute gave Ozarks a 1-0 win against Hendrix September 9. He then scored the only Ozarks’ goal in a 1-1 ASC East Division-opening tie against Austin College September 12. Herrera currently leads the team in goals (3) and points (7) and is tied for second in the ASC in goals. Herrera ranks first at Ozarks in career game-winning goals (14), second in career goals (47) and career points (111). Herrera is a three-time ASC All-East Division first team member. This marks the second Ozarks’ player to receive conference Player of the Week honors this season. The Eagles are currently 2-2-1.
