Memphis, Tenn.- Tony Santoro scored the equalizer in the 87th minute only to see Rhodes College answer with the game-winner just seconds later to secure a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon in Memphis.
After a scoreless first half, Santoro scored on a breakaway to give the Eagles (1-1-0) a 1-0 lead. Santoro’s goal, which came in the 48th minute, didn’t give the Eagles a lead very long. Rhodes (1-1-0) responded with a goal three minutes later to tie the match. The Lynx took the lead in the 65th minute, but Santoro took a ball from Shaun Keane and connected on a shot to even the score 2-2. It only took 47 seconds later for the Lynx to secure the match when Andy Roskos-Ewoldsen hit the game-winner.
Both Santoro and Eloy Salgado each recorded five shots apiece. Neil Thompson posted six saves.
