Clarksville, Ark.-Rhodes College scored eight runs off four hits in the second inning to cruise to a 15-8 win over Ozarks Friday in the Wilson/DeMarini Classic in Jackson, Mississippi.

The Eagles (1-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first behind a David Smith solo homer and a Todd Koch sacrifice RBI. But Rhodes (2-0) quickly answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the contest. It was the second inning though that proved to be the deciding factor as Rhodes pitcher Andy Holt retied three straight Eagles to set up a big offensive inning for the Lynx in the bottom half. Rhodes first three batters reached base, and the Lynx then took full advantage of their runners in scoring position, putting seven runs on the board with one out. Following two innings of play, Rhodes held a 10-2 lead and after four they had increased their lead to 13-3. Ozarks scored four runs on three hits in the seventh to cut it to 15-7.

The Eagles had 11 hits, with Smith, Bruce Cameron, Cory Briggs and Jonathan Cox each recording two apiece. Briggs drove in three runs.

Starter Jeremy Hogan (0-1) started and took the loss. He went one and one-third innings and gave up five hits. Holt (1-0) got the win.

The Eagles will face Millsaps College Saturday and LaGrange Sunday. Live stats will be available on Ozarks web site.
